💨 Abstract
A federal judge in New York blocked the Trump administration's attempt to end temporary legal status for over 500,000 Haitians in the U.S. The judge ruled that moving up the expiration of the temporary protected status (TPS) by at least five months is unlawful. The Biden administration had extended Haiti’s TPS status through February 2026 due to ongoing issues in Haiti.
