A New York businesswoman, Sherry Xue Li, pleaded guilty to a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme that deceived foreign investors and funneled stolen money into U.S. political campaigns. Li and her co-defendant, Lianbo Wang, promised investors permanent residency in exchange for large investments and used the funds for personal expenses and political contributions, including a 2017 Trump fundraiser.
