A mother and her 9-year-old son were rescued after getting lost in a California forest. They left notes with "HELP" and used a whistle signal. A search team found them after tracking their last known location and following the notes. The pair had spent the night in their car with supplies. Authorities praised their actions, which aided in their rescue.
