💨 Abstract

Flames and thick smoke erupted from a New York City commuter train at the Newport station in Jersey City, New Jersey, around 6:19 a.m. on a Monday morning. Passengers evacuated the eastbound PATH train amidst cries to open the doors. Thirteen individuals suffered smoke inhalation, with nine receiving hospital treatment. The cause of the fire, which affected one car, is under investigation. The PATH trains typically serve around 165,000 daily passengers.
