💨 Abstract
A federal court ruled that the National Science Foundation (NSF) can continue to withhold funding from researchers in several states pending ongoing litigation. The NSF had stopped payments for research on topics like misinformation, diversity, and artificial intelligence, citing new priorities. Sixteen Democrat-led states sued, arguing the NSF's actions violate its mandate. Judge John Cronan declined to force immediate payments, citing potential jurisdiction issues and the states' failure to prove the NSF's actions were unlawful.
