💨 Abstract
In Qatar, Remy Rowhani, the leader of the Baha’i community, was sentenced to five years in prison for social media posts criticizing Islam. The verdict was criticized as a violation of religious freedom. Rowhani, 71, was detained since April. The U.N. had expressed concern over his arrest, part of a broader pattern of discrimination against Baha’is in Qatar.
