💨 Abstract
A South Carolina trooper, Dennis Ricks, has passed away after being struck by a box truck while walking back to his cruiser following a traffic stop. The incident occurred on Interstate 26 near Orangeburg. The truck driver faces charges, with more expected pending further investigation. Ricks, who had served for two years, is survived by his wife. This marks the first trooper fatality in the line of duty since 2017.
