💨 Abstract

The Texas House Democrats have left the state to prevent a vote on a new congressional map that would benefit Republicans in the 2026 elections. This tactic requires at least 100 of the 150 members to be present for a quorum. Republicans, led by Governor Greg Abbott, have responded by suing to remove the Democratic leader and threatening arrests and investigations. The Republicans aim to secure five more congressional seats, increasing their current 25 seats in the U.S.
