💨 Abstract
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, set to leave office due to term limits, has been indicted for allegedly concealing a romantic relationship with her bodyguard, Jeffrey Vappie. Prosecutors claim Cantrell used city funds for personal trips with Vappie, who was paid as if on duty. They exchanged over 15,000 encrypted messages, hiding and deleting communications to evade detection. They are charged with conspiracy, fraud, and obstruction.
