💨 Abstract

The U.S. prosecutors have decided not to pursue the death penalty against Mexican cartel leaders Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada and Rafael Caro Quintero, both accused of extensive drug trafficking and violent crimes. Zambada, 75, is known for targeting high-profile drug deals and was captured in Texas after years of evading authorities. Caro Quintero, 72, is infamous for orchestrating the 1985 murder of a DEA agent.
