💨 Abstract
Archaeologists from East Carolina University found four shipwrecks, including remains possibly belonging to the Spanish privateer ship La Fortuna, at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site in North Carolina. La Fortuna, which sank in 1748 during King George’s War, may represent the most significant discovery. The team recovered over 40 pieces of timber from one wreck, which was threatened by erosion.
