💨 Abstract

Italy's new law, effective May 21, revokes citizenship by descent for those with Italian bisabuelos (great-grandparents), leaving at least 80 million individuals worldwide ineligible. This change frustrates past filers who invested in documentation for citizenship. Subsequentially On June 8, and 9 Italians voting will decide on a (likely failing) proposal that reduces residence requirement from 10 to 5 years for EU foreigners who do not apply for citizenship anymore.
