💨 Abstract
The financial intelligence unit (UIF) of Mexico announced on Thursday that retired Mexican security secretary Genaro García Luna and his wife, Linda Pereyra, have been ordered to pay nearly $2.5 billion to the Mexican government. This is related to a scheme of fraudulent contracts they were allegedly involved in during García Luna's time in office. UIF has also revealed presumed irregularities in 30 contracts related and another 61 cooperate in the presumed network.
