💨 Abstract

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that Mexico might mobilize against a U.S. Congress proposal to tax remittances sent by Mexican immigrants. The tax, part of a budget package by U.S. President Donald Trump, would impose a 3.5% levy. Sheinbaum criticized the move, stating it is unfair to those who work hard and pay taxes. The Mexican Senate also opposed the tax, arguing it would force migrants to seek illegal ways to send money.
