💨 Abstract

As the planet warms, fungi causing infections, which kill millions annually, will spread to new regions, according to new research. Aspergillus, a common fungal group, is expected to expand into North America, Europe, China, and Russia. These fungi can cause aspergillosis, a deadly lung disease, particularly dangerous for those with weakened immune systems. The study highlights the need for better understanding and preparedness for fungal infections as climate change progresses.
