💨 Abstract
On June 1, 2025, Mexico held its first election, allowing citizens to vote for judges, Supreme Court ministers, and magistrates nationwide. 881 positions were up for election, including 9 Supreme Court ministers and various magistrates. This historic vote followed a judicial reform pushed by former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Mexico joins a few countries, like the U.S., Switzerland, and Bolivia, in electing some judicial officials.
