💨 Abstract
Heineken announced the loss of operational control and withdrawal of staff from its facilities in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) due to intensified conflicts. The company's installations in Bukavu and Goma, among the largest cities in the region, are now under rebel control. Heineken paused operations in March after attacks and looting but decided to withdraw entirely citing deteriorating conditions. Their local unit, Bralima, continues operating in unaffected areas.
