💨 Abstract

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a widely used tool to estimate relative weight status and assess disease risk. It has limitations, such as not differentiating between muscle and fat mass, and should not be the sole measure of health. BMI is used to determine eligibility for GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy but has significant concerns in guiding their use. Alternatives to BMI, like waist circumference, body composition analysis, and metabolic markers, provide a more nuanced view of health.
