💨 Abstract

Mimi Hymel, a survivor of Hurricane Katrina at age 3, founded Comfort Bears in a Crisis after seeing the devastation caused by Texas floods. Her organization provides children with new stuffed animals and mental health resources after disasters. Inspired by Hymel's efforts, Annie Gully and her daughter launched a campaign that collected over 1,100 stuffed animals for children affected by Texas floods. Community efforts like these offer hope and support in the aftermath of natural disasters.
