💨 Abstract

In the early hours of U.S. Independence Day, severe storms struck central Texas, leading to catastrophic flooding. Entire neighborhoods were swept away, and over 100 people died, with search and rescue efforts ongoing. The region's extreme drought conditions exacerbated the flooding, as the dry soil couldn't absorb the heavy rainfall. Camp Mystic, a girls' camp, was severely hit, with 27 fatalities and 11 missing.
