💨 Abstract
In August 2025, the Trump administration announced a pilot program requiring certain non-immigrant visa applicants to pay a deposit of up to $15,000. This measure, effective for 12 months, targets individuals from countries with high illegal stay rates and inadequate security controls, as well as those from nations offering citizenship by investment without residency requirements. Officials may request this deposit for B-1/B-2 visa applicants to discourage overstays.
