💨 Abstract

The North Coast 500 (NC500) route in Scotland, created to boost tourism, has become a global phenomenon, attracting visitors with its stunning landscapes. Initially praised, it has since overwhelmed local communities and infrastructure. The surge in visitors, often in caravans and RVs, has caused environmental strain and resident frustration. Despite criticisms, the NC500 has economically benefited some local businesses and fostered a sense of regional pride.
