💨 Abstract

Venuzelan lawyer María Alejandra Díaz sought asylum in Colombia's embassy since January due to persecution by Venezuela's government. Initially supportive of the Venezuelan revolution, Díaz later criticized President Nicolás Maduro, notably during the 2024 elections. The Venezuelan government suspended her legal license and imposed a fine, leading to her quest for asylum. Colombia granted her asylum but Dias's public comments breached conditions set by Colombia.
