💨 Abstract

Spain's population grew by 119,811 in the second quarter of 2025, reaching 49,315,949, the highest recorded. The increase was driven by immigrants, particularly from Colombia, Morocco, and Venezuela. Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares noted that Spain needs immigrants to sustain growth. Key regions receiving new residents include Valencia, Catalunya, and Madrid, with the latter attracting many Latin Americans.
