💨 Abstract
Mexico and Guatemala have agreed to start negotiations with Belize to extend the Tren Maya railroad project into Central America. The initiative aims to foster regional development and connectivity while emphasizing environmental sustainability. The current Tren Maya, launched in December 2023, has already transported over 1.5 million passengers in Mexico. The proposed expansion into Guatemala and Belize will prioritize avoiding existing reserves and promoting green infrastructure.
