💨 Abstract

Russia's delegation, led by Vladimir Medinsky, arrived in Istanbul for peace talks with Ukraine, but Russian President Vladimir Putin was notably absent, drawing criticism from Western officials who question Moscow's commitment to peace. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy challenged Putin to meet in person and has agreed to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The talks are seen as a restart of previous negotiations that stalled in 2022.
