💨 Abstract

On May 20, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Kursk region for the first time since claiming to have expelled Ukrainian forces last month. Ukrainian troops previously made a significant incursion into Kursk in August 2024, marking the first occupation of Russian territory since World War II. Putin toured a nuclear power plant and addressed volunteers, promising continued support for displaced families. Meanwhile, Russia's air defenses reportedly intercepted 159 Ukrainian drones.
