💨 Abstract
During a tsunami threat in Hawaii triggered by an 8.8 magnitude earthquake, social media falsely claimed Oprah Winfrey refused to allow public use of a private road to evacuate higher ground. The road is actually owned by Haleakala Ranch, and Winfrey only has an easement agreement for its use. Following the tsunami warning, Haleakala Ranch worked with local officials to open the road to the public, assisting in the evacuation of around 200 vehicles.
