San Francisco Giants infielder Casey Schmitt has a Grade 2 left oblique strain and is expected to be out for at least a month. He was diagnosed after an MRI and will be evaluated by a team orthopedist. Schmitt was injured during a weekend series with the Los Angeles Angels and is scheduled for re-evaluation at the end of the homestand. He has played seven games at first base this season, batting .174
