The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Monday night, with Corbin Carroll hitting two home runs off Justin Verlander. Carroll's performance put him one homer behind the league leaders. The Giants, who have lost four straight games, scored their lone run in the bottom of the fifth. Merrill Kelly pitched seven innings for Arizona, allowing one run. Verlander, despite striking out five, gave up nine hits and was pulled in the seventh.
