The Chicago Cubs signed veteran right-hander Kenta Maeda to a minor league contract, aiming to help him regain his form after a struggling stint with Detroit. Maeda, 37, had a 7.88 ERA in seven relief appearances for the Tigers. Cubs manager Craig Counsell plans to work with Maeda to make adjustments.
