Mike Elko, a 26-year-old first baseman, made his MLB debut with the Chicago White Sox and hit a decisive three-run homer in the sixth inning, leading them to a 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins. Elko, who had been hitting well in Triple-A, became a designated hitter for the game. The White Sox, struggling with scoring, rebounded from a sweep to win the series.
