💨 Abstract
On May 29, 1985, 39 people died during the European Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool at Heysel Stadium in Brussels due to crowd violence. Liverpool fans surged into a stand filled with Juventus supporters, causing a collapse. The incident highlighted the then-prevailing issues of hooliganism and poor stadium conditions in English soccer. English clubs were banned from European competitions, leading to significant reforms in stadium safety and fan behavior.
