In the Indianapolis 500 pit-stop challenge, Josef Newgarden of Team Penske defeated his teammate Will Power, securing his second consecutive pit-stop championship. Despite starting from the final row due to an illegal part on their cars, both drivers had strong performances in practice. Newgarden praised his crew, highlighting their crucial role in the race. The team also celebrated a fast practice lap. Other teams had minor issues, but the focus remained on the upcoming race.
