In the WNBA season opener, the Phoenix Mercury defeated the Seattle Storm 81-59. Satou Sabally led the Mercury with 27 points, and Alyssa Thomas added 20 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Eight Mercury players debuted, the most since the franchise's inaugural season. Skylar Diggins scored 21 points for the Storm, but the team struggled with 23% shooting.
