💨 Abstract
The French court of auditors estimated the public spending for the 2024 Paris Olympics at nearly €6 billion. The spending includes €2.77 billion for event organization and €3.19 billion for infrastructure. Paris 2024 organizers disputed this, arguing that many expenditures predate and will outlast the Games, and that major investments were unrelated projects. They estimated the Games' cost at €2 billion, with expected economic benefits three to five times that amount.
