💨 Abstract
Belgian gymnast Nina Derwael, a 25-year-old former Olympic champion on the uneven bars, announced her retirement from competitive gymnastics. Derwael won the gold medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. After winning two more European Championship titles in June 2025 she decided to retire. She was also a two-time world champion on the uneven bars. Derwael stated that she had achieved all her goals and did not want to risk further injury.
