💨 Abstract
Guardians pitcher Luis Ortiz is on extended non-disciplinary leave until Aug. 31 due to an MLB gambling investigation. The probe focuses on unusual betting activity on two of his pitches. Ortiz, acquired from Pittsburgh, is 4-9 with a 4.36 ERA this season. This investigation follows MLB's suspension of five players for gambling in 2024, including a lifetime ban for Tucupita Marcano. The Guardians are cooperating with the investigation.
