💨 Abstract

Mathieu van der Poel, who initially wore the yellow jersey and won a stage during the early weeks of the Tour de France, has withdrawn due to pneumonia. The Dutch cyclist started feeling unwell a few days before Stage 16, and his condition worsened during the second rest day. After medical tests confirmed pneumonia, health officials decided he could no longer continue the race. Van der Poel will rest for a week before further medical evaluations.
