💨 Abstract
Boston Red Sox infielder Marcelo Mayer, 22, will undergo season-ending surgery on his right wrist. Injured in late July, Mayer decided on surgery after an anti-inflammatory injection failed to improve his condition. Mayer, drafted fourth overall in 2021, bat .228 with four homers and 10 RBIs in 44 games this season. Manager Alex Cora expects a three-month recovery, aiming for Mayer to be ready for spring training.
