💨 Abstract
A statue of Sue Bird was unveiled outside Climate Pledge Arena, making her the first WNBA player to receive such an honor. The 8-foot bronze statue depicts Bird scoring a layup, reflecting her WNBA career high points. Bird, a 13-time All-Star and four-time WNBA champion, expressed pride in being the first WNBA player honored in this way, joining elite male athletes. She also highlighted the WNBA's growth and its acceptance in Seattle.
