Emma Raducanu defeated Naomi Osaka 6-4, 6-2 at the D.C. Open. Raducanu, the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam, saved break points and broke Osaka three times, benefiting from her improved serve. Osaka struggled with seven double-faults. Raducanu will next face Maria Sakkari, while Venus Williams is scheduled to play. In men's matches, several top seeds advanced.
