💨 Abstract

A writer, Marco Buscaglia, was fired by content distributor King Features after a summer reading list he produced contained fake books. Buscaglia used AI for research but didn't verify the information. Over half the books listed were fictional, including works attributed to real authors. Both the Chicago Sun-Times and the Philadelphia Inquirer published the flawed list and have since removed it. This incident highlights the risks of using AI in journalism without proper oversight.
