Mount Vernon is celebrating the 250th anniversary of George Washington's departure to Philadelphia, where he was appointed commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. On Sunday, there will be a reenactment of Washington's departure, a ribbon cutting for a new Revolutionary War encampment called the Patriots Path, and activities showcasing colonial life, artisans, and crafts.
