đź’¨ Abstract
The Department of Education has given five Northern Virginia school districts until August 15 to revise their bathroom policies for transgender students, citing violations of Title IX. Districts, including Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties, and Alexandria, are evaluating their options amid concerns from parents and advocacy groups about the potential harm to transgender students. The department's order requires districts to adopt "biology-based definitions" for male and female, potentially leading to enforcement actions if not followed.
