đź’¨ Abstract
The WNBA is expanding to 18 teams over the next five years, adding three new teams in Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia. These cities will join by 2030, following the entry of Toronto and Portland next year. Each new team paid a $250 million expansion fee, with plans to build infrastructure and invest in amenities. The expansion aims to capitalize on the growing demand for women's basketball and foster rivalries among the new and existing teams.
