💨 Abstract
Britain's largest water company, Thames Water, was fined over $166 million for polluting rivers and streams with sewage while paying dividends to shareholders. The company, serving 16 million people, was found to have inadequate infrastructure and improperly paid dividends. The U.K. government assured customers they won't bear the costs. Thames Water, facing insolvency and a potential sale to KKR, blames regulators for historic underinvestment.
