💨 Abstract

Cardinals resumed voting for a new pope in the Sistine Chapel after the first round failed to produce a winner, indicated by black smoke. This process, known as the conclave, requires a two-thirds majority (89 ballots) to elect the 267th pope. The 133 cardinals, many of whom were appointed by Pope Francis, are sequestered from the world, adding to the secrecy and mystique of the ritual.
