💨 Abstract
On May 15, 2025, David Perdue, former U.S. senator and business executive, arrived in Beijing as the new U.S. ambassador to China. His appointment coincided with a temporary tariff truce between the U.S. and China. The agreement reduced U.S. tariffs from 145% to 30% and China's tariffs from 125% to 10% on each other's goods.
