💨 Abstract

Two baby orangutans were rescued from traffickers in Bangkok, Thailand, and a suspect was arrested. The orangutans, valued at $9,000 each, were critically endangered and illegally trafficked. Orangutans face habitat loss in Sumatra and Borneo, making them vulnerable to poaching. The annual illicit wildlife trade is valued at $10-$20 billion. The orangutans were handed over to wildlife authorities for care.
